The Base Lineup

Another makeup purge happened and here we are admiring the survivors. I tend to be quite brutal in my decluttering and only my favorites are left to talk about it. Here are the bases that made the cut.

The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD foundation is my go-to when I'm looking for something medium coverage with a satin, matte finish. I'm actually strongly considering this for my wedding foundation, so that's quite the testament to how much I enjoy it although it doesn't get much love around these parts. It's buildable, wears well over time, and holds up in coverage throughout the entire day.

My heaviest foundation is by far the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation. It coverage is serious and the satin finish hides everything. It's definitely a foundation I have to be light handed with or risk having a brand new face. The finish is gorgeous though and it lasts ages. It also settles into the skin nicely and looks better as the day goes along.

The last two foundations are my most used and are more like tinted moisturizers than foundations. The IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is one of the best bases I have ever tried for everyday makeup. It's light, breathable on the skin, while still covering up any discoloration or redness. A beauty blender is the perfect tool to blend everything in to a flawless, no makeup finish.

Nothing rivals the IT Cosmetics CC Cream like the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. It has a more mousse-like consistency, but beyond texture I can barely tell the difference between these two holy grail products. They're beyond perfect and I'm sure I'll be switching back and forth between them constantly.

I'm quite pleased with the bases I have left in my collection and feel like all my bases have been covered with these four. From heavier makeup days to everyday application, I'm good to go.

What are your favorite foundations?

Yours till the french fries,

Kayla
