The Skincare Routine for Dry Skin | Day & Night

I'm quite fickle when it comes to skincare routines. I fall in and out of them so quickly and often decide to just skip the entire thing altogether. But in an effort to treat my skin better I'm back at it again and have found two routines that my dry skin loves.

I keep things super simple in the morning since I don't want to irritate my skin too much for the day. I start with the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser in the shower. It's incredibly gentle but leaves my skin feeling like it's had a good clean. Once I'm finished with the rest of my shower I use a cotton pad with the Body Shop's Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. I love how cool it feels on my skin and it's a great way to clean everything off and prep the skin for anything next. I round out the simple routine with the Origins GinZing Energy-boosting Moisturizer. Its orange scent really wakes me up and I love how light, yet hydrating the product is. And that's it. I find a complicated routine in the morning means I definitely won't do it. A three step process gets the job done while being a lot more realistic.

In the evening things get a bit more complicated. I remove any makeup I wore with the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. You apply this to your dry skin and massage it around as it creates an oil that lifts up the makeup. I then follow up with the Body Shop's Vitamin C Facial Cleansing Polish for a really good clean and to wash away anything the Clinique Balm might have left behind. I just like to be super sure that my skin is clear before heading to the next steps. I use the Body Shop toner again and then apply either the Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins or the Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask depending on how much hydration I'm going for. The Night-A-Mins is a great every day moisturizer while the other option packs a bit more punch. In the dryer, winter months I may even combine the two steps.

If I find I'm in the mood for a deep cleansing mask, the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask is the one I usually reach for above all others. I find it's just harsh enough on my skin that it doesn't annoy my sensitive cheeks too much, while still getting deep into my pores to get any gunk out. I do this about once a week and usually just add it to my morning steps in the shower. It's so much easier to wash off after a few minutes and I'll just shave my legs or something during the wait.

They are simple routines, but they really work for my dry skin and unmotivated self (when it comes to skincare at least).
