Save or Splurge?

This poor post has been sitting in my drafts folder for literally ages. Poor post. Never getting the attention it deserves. But the time has come to finally give it its day and talk about which beauty products are worth splurging for and which ones to save your pennies on.

Bases - SPLURGE I take my bases very seriously. It's the main thing you put on your face and should act kind of like skincare. There are some great affordable bases, but don't be afraid to shell out a couple more bucks for a really good one. My favorite is the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. It's not out of the world expensive, but it definitely isn't drugstore.

Blushes - SAVE You can find some seriously impressive blushes at the drugstore and as long as they provide a nice flush to the skin, you don't have to spend an arm or a leg for them. Revlon makes some really great shades that are pigmented and blendable.

Eye Shadow - SPLURGE If you have one really good palette, you're set. So instead of buying a bunch of somewhat crappy palettes or single shadows from the drugstore, do your research and find a palette you'll get some serious usage out of. Then you'll have great shadows that will last a lot longer than you'll ever imagine. Urban Decay has great options obviously, but Stila has my heart when it comes to eyeshadow.

Mascara - SAVE Honestly I doubt I'll find a high end mascara that's better than the ones you can find at the drugstore. The bill isn't a large one when it comes to mascara so just find something that holds a curl, lasts, adds volume, and doesn't clump. I love nearly everything Maybelline puts out from their Rocket Volum' Express to LASHsensational.

Lipstick - SAVE/SPLURGE Although I would love to advocate for dupes and great options in the drugstore, I'm a lipstick snob through and through. I can't get enough of Urban Decay's Revolution line or anything by MAC Cosmetics. This category is up to you because I just don't have the strength to avoid the good stuff.

There's a lot more to makeup than just the categories I listed, but my routine is too simple to fuss around with bronzers or other beauty bits on a daily basis. I'd be more than happy to write an extended save or splurge post if there's interest though!

What products do you save with and which ones are worth the splurge?

xoxo Kayla
