When Things Get Stressful

I think it's safe to say that I've never been more stressed out in my life. My to do list has definitely caught up with me and with finals here I just don't know how I'll get it all done. Trying to do all the things can lead to weeks like this when you don't think you'll be able to accomplish a single thing.

What I do when I'm stressed
  • Find everyone annoying. I'm not a fan of small talk to begin with, but when I have stuff to do I really couldn't care less.
  • Spend absurd amounts of time worrying about not getting everything done rather than try and get at least something done.
  • Eat poorly.
  • Get annoyed when people keep asking me if I have something done. I will let you know when I do, so just leave me alone to do it.
  • Sleep less.
  • Find myself wanting to work on other, more interesting and creative projects than research papers.
  • Contemplate the point of graduate school in general.
  • Stop all social interaction until there's an end in sight.

What I should do when I'm stressed

  • Prioritize the work. Some things may not get done and I have to be ok with that. There are things I have to do, while other things I just like to do.
  • Find time to relax. Nothing makes things worse than working myself to the bone. I have to set aside time for YouTube video watching or blog reading.
  • Understand that I won't be stressed out forever. Eventually the due date for the paper will come (it's tomorrow) and the holidays will pass.
  • Take a bath or do some yoga.
  • Ask for help. Probably the most difficult thing for me to do, but whenever I do ask my friends are always more than willing to lend a helping hand.
xoxo Kayla

  1. I am the same when I'm stressed! My poor fiancé bears the brunt of it bless him! Good luck with everything, like you said a time will come when it will pass and you will forget all the stress :-) xx

  2. Making a list and then prioritising the tasks always works so well for me!

  3. First things first, that to do list is very cute - it'd easily make me want to tick everything off on that list! I often fall into a vicious cycle of stressing over the fact that I'm wasting my time by stressing, so I find it very helpful to just step back, watch a few Youtube videos or do some exercise, even though it's the hardest thing to do.
