I Get the Hype: The MAC 217

It feels like it's been ages in the making. I've talked about getting this brush longer than I've had this blog, and yet I refused to dish out the cash to bring the MAC 217 ($24) home with me. During a recent shopping trip with friends I was feelin' spendy and took the plunge. I completely get the hype over this baby.

I'm sure you've heard it all before, but you need the MAC 217. It's marketed as a blending brush, but I find it applies shadow to the lid just as well as it blends everything out. I've been primarily using it to blend out cream shadows to my brow bone. The handle is sturdy, but oddly shorter than I expected it was going to be.

I can definitely tell the quality and skill of this brush. A lot of my other brushes make the whole eye shadow process somewhat annoying and messy, but this somehow makes it easier. Maybe it's my expectation that it'll be awesome swaying my opinion, or maybe it is really just that good. I'm curious to see what other MAC brushes are like and would love to get a blush brush or foundation brush to add to my collection.

Now I just have to keep my promises to wash my brushes more...

xoxo Kayla

  1. Yes! The 217 is incredible and genuinely does make blending eyeshadow a breeze, I have absolutely no idea what I done before it I just know that my eyeshadow was basically a mess. I'm glad you've discovered the wonders of the 217!

  3. I bought my 217 when I was in America and loved it, however couldn't justify spending that much on a duplicate. I wanted about 3 on the go at any one time so just searched on ebay and found some good cheap copies! If I could though I would stick to mac all the way!

  4. Took me a while to finally buy the real deal. I've been using 'dupes' and none of them are as good as the original!

    1. I've heard great things about Zoeva. I may have to check out that 227 and do a comparison!

  8. I hear so many good things about this brush! I think one day I am going to have to invest in it as most of my eyeshadow brushes just fall apart... x

  10. This is something that's been on my wishlist for a long time. Blending brushes are probably my favourite and I really think this is a must try.
