Comfort Zone

I have this uncanny ability to find the perfect my-lips-but-better shade in nearly every lipstick line. Without fail I'll pick out the mauve/pink shade and convince myself that it's different than the other handful of mauve/pink shades I already own. Sure they all are slightly different, but a girl only needs so many lipsticks that match her natural lip color, right? I'm still trying to teach myself that and I have even more than the ones featured here. It's an addiction, seriously.

However the lipsticks in my comfort zone are different enough that I think they warrant a good look over. My most worn lipstick of all time is MAC's "Syrup" ($16). It's the most purple of the MLBB shades and is one that's so easy to throw on while out and about. When this kicks the bucket I'll be off to the MAC counter immediately for a replacement. MAC's "Plumful" ($16) is much more of a true to mauve color and comes out not as often as I find that I have issues applying this without a mirror. The formula is of course fantastic and I feel so fancy whenever I pull out these types of lipstick tubes.

The pinkest of the lipsticks has to be NYX's "Tea Rose" ($4). On all of the websites it looks a lot more purple than it actually is. It's a very sheer formula that let's my natural lip color shine through. More on the coral side of things is Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick in "Coral Garden" ($6.99). It's also the brightest shade in the group as it contains a bit of orange to it that brightens things up. It's still pretty close to my lip color though.

As of late I've found myself constantly reaching for Urban Decay's Revolution Lipstick in "Rush" ($22). This is by far the closest I've gotten to the holy grail of MLBB lipsticks. It takes my natural lip color and turns it into this beautiful, magical shade that makes me so happy whenever I'm wearing it. The formula is rich, pigmented, and the color lasts for ions. The NARS Satin Lip Pencil in "Rikugien" ($25) is a rose pink shade that shows up fairly sheer on the lips and has more of a glossy finish. It's quite the hassle free product that I still feel fancy using.

The newest addition to the MLBB lineup is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in "Manic" ($20). I love combining this with "Rush" because they're almost identical in color and produce the perfect lip. Everything is bolder, stays in place, and my lips have never looked so defined. I'm so happy I finally have a lip liner that I love in my possession.

What are your MLBB colors? I find it so interesting that everyone's MLBB shades can be different as we all have different natural lip colors. I must be easily amused...

xoxo Kayla

  1. I actually did a very similar post to this a week or so ago - nude lipsticks that match my lips rather than my skin!
