Blogging Made Me Buy It

We are all victims to blogger enabling. Hell I'm sure I do it all the time to my lovely readers. I know we often curse fellow bloggers for being the reason we buy products, but we all know we secretly love it. If we didn't want to try the product we wouldn't buy it, bloggers just give us a little push. Some of my favorite products I've purchased because of one too many rave reviews that convince me it's worth it and I won't be disappointed. I do my research, but if my most trusted bloggers can't stop talking about it, I'm way more likely to spend my hard-earned cash on it.

One of the first products I ever purchased because bloggers were raving about it is the Bobbi Brown Corrector ($24). Now more or less replaced by my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, this was the first high end purchase I ever made. It helped me realize that I could actually cover up my ugly looking dark circles. That there were actually products out there that could do what I hoped the cheaper options from the drugstore could do but were failing.

The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($42), the Stila One Step Correct ($36), Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks ($22), the Bourjois Bronzing Powder ($13.32) and the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush ($26) are all fairly recent purchases that I had been humming and hawing over for a couple of months until blogs finally pushed me over the edge and the products into my baskets. They're fantastic, as I'm sure you're aware by my constant ramblings over them on this blog. I was introduced to them because of the blogging community and I get all bummed out thinking about a Kayla in a parallel universe who never got to try these awesome products. The things I think about, right?

I'm not advocating blind purchases just because other bloggers like the products though. I learned my lesson about that with the Maybelline Color Elixirs ($8.99 each). I'm not sure how I got it into my head that I would like these despite the fact that I don't enjoy lip glosses, but all the blogger hype made me get them anyway. They aren't terrible products in the slightest, just ones that I never use and am not sure why I got them. So always make sure you're going to use the product...which is a no brainer, but it happens to all of us.

Reading blogs is one of my favorite pastimes and I can't wait to see what products are raved about next.

What products did you buy because of blogging?

xoxo Kayla

  1. Definitely agree with this post, some of my blogger enabled purchases are some of my favourite products. One great example was the nars sheer glow foundation, I had wanted this for the longest time then it got to the stage I couldn't resist. I'm so glad I gave in.

    1. My interest has definitely been peaked towards NARS Sheer Glow due to all the bloggers who love it. I know it'll be worth it when I finally shell out the cash, but I need to find the pennies first!

  2. Sounds like an advice I could totally use! :-) My blogger enabled products haven't disappointed yet but I do have an XL wishlist which is risky business!

    1. Don't we all!?!? Mine gets longer by the day. I've started doing this thing where after a few months I'll write a NEW wishlist and only put things from the old wishlist onto the new one if I'm still as excited about them as I was when I first wrote them down.

    1. Do you like the Sleek blush palette? I've heard positive reviews but nothing that makes me feel like I need to get it

  4. Such a good post! The UD Revolution lipsticks are some of my favorite products, and they were definitely a blogger-influenced purchase for me as well.

I use the Bobbi Brown Corrector first and the NARS Radiant Concealer layered over it for brightening on days where my under eye circles are really bad.

    1. The Bobbi Brown/NARS combo seems to be fairly popular. I think I tried it once but don't remember the outcome so I'll have to give it another go!

  8. Oooo...I really would love an UD lipstick and some blushes from tarte but they are so expensive over here! I've been influenced to get eyeshadow palettes from sleek because of other bloggers! They've all been so amazing and so afforable!

  9. So many of the things I love have been blogger enabled - like the Real Techniques brushes and Pixi Glow Tonic. The most recent buy was the L'Oreal Telescopic mascara but unfortunately I really don't like it, but so many people raved about it! xx
