The Spring Purge

The existence of this beauty blog alone is proof enough of my obsession with all things makeup. Over the past four or so years a trip to the drugstore always resulted in coming out with at least one new product. My collection has grown more and more (as collections do) and more products began collecting metaphorical dust in the drawers. Whether or not they suited my fancy, were old flames, or just not my color, there were a lot of products going unloved and beginning to approach expiration dates. I never want any of my beauty products to go to waste and I was at my wit's end with what to do with them or how to organize them in a way that I used them more. So I took some time to pull anything and everything out that I didn't think I'd use or miss. Just like what I did with my closet a few weeks ago, if I wasn't going to use it in the next couple of months or so it went into a bin.

I plan on letting my family and friends go through the bin and take anything they like. It's a win-win. I get cleaner drawers and to share my beauty obsession and they get to try new products! I'm not sure what to do with anything they're not interested in so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you ever purged your makeup stash? How did you determine what stayed and what went?

xoxo Kayla

  1. I have purged a bit of my stash here and there. I don't know how I really decided what to keep and what to toss, ha. I just think of whether I dislike it or not, really.

  2. I always just pitch products I don't want that no one else snags - but I'm constantly wondering is it bad to donate them to Goodwill? If it's never used or barely used product you just feel bad tossing it into the garbage. Does anyone know, is this an allowed thing? *help* ;)

  3. Cashmere - I don't know about Goodwill but I know some women's shelters really love gently used makeup! Usually the go-by rule is "if you were comfortable giving it to a friend/sister" you can give it, of course with regular health rules of not giving mascara/other things with personal-use wands and what not. Might be something to look into! :)

  4. This is a great idea. I might have to do it too because my collections has become ridiculous and my mom always complains about my messy room and how I have too much makeup!
