Naked 3 Alternatives

I'm usually the first one to encourage the purchase of even more makeup than we already have, but when it comes to the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, I much rather spend my pennies elsewhere. The trouble is I am completely enamored with that rose gold baby. The only way I've successfully stayed away from its gravitational pull is by finding some Naked 3 alternatives. These are by no means dupes as I don't have the palette to really compare them to, but these have helped me see that I don't need another Naked palette.

A lot of my Naked 3 saviors come in the form of Maybelline Color Tattoos ($6.99 each). I love these things. Cream eye shadows have definitely become my favorite type. They are just so darn easy. Going clockwise, "Beige-ing Beauty," "Tough as Taupe," "Inked in Pink," and "Pure Nude" are the perfect set. "Inked in Pink" is by far my go-to shade to get the perfect shimmery pink lid. I like to use "Tough as Taupe" on the outside corners and blend it out for some more definition.

More often than not though my favorite combination is pairing "Inked in Pink" with Tini Beauty's Eye Shadow Base in "Ambrosia" ($18). It's a downright stunning deep rose gold (more on the rose side) shade that I just dab on my lids and blend it slightly inward. I've been wearing this so often!

Finally I couldn't help but include my Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection Eye Shadow in "Comfort Zone" ($4.99) specifically for the rosey gold eyelid shade. It's the perfect middle between brown and pink and screams Naked 3 to me whenever I look at it. All the shades on the left side of the "Comfort Zone" palette seem very "Naked palette" to me. I'm not a huge fan of this palette like a lot of people are, but it's amazing for the price and isn't that difficult to work with. I just wish the texture wasn't as chalky as I find it and the colors were just a little bit easier to blend.

I would love to own the Naked 3 palette, but these alternatives are helping the desire pass while still getting me a lovely rose gold look.

Do you own the Naked 3 palette? What eye shadows would you say are similar to the Naked 3 vibe?

xoxo Kayla

  4. Pretty! When I looked at the Naked 3 palette I didn't think I would use most of the colors. I love the rose gold shade too and it looks like these are really close to the color on the N3 Palette. I love finding cheaper alternatives and being just as satisfied with the results. I have heard many bloggers say that they love Maybelline Color Tattoos but when I purchased one, the color pigmentation was horrible. This was like a year ago. Is the pigmentation in these eyeshadows good? I am thinking of trying one out again but I want to make sure I choose one that actually shows up on my lid!

    1. Some of the color tattoos are definitely less pigmented than other ones. I really like the limited edition collection but they're very light shades that take a lot of effort to build up. I'd recommend the tough as taupe one or the inked in pink one from their permanent collection.

  5. I have the Naked 3 palette but for similar looks I actually prefer reaching for the Color Tattoo Inked in Pink and this eyeshadow quad from Clinique 'Pink Chocolate' :)
