The Life in Letters Tag

The lovely Amy from Blending Beauty tagged me to do this tag, and as soon as I saw it I wanted to do it. What a really unique, cool type of tag! Plus I've been wanting to share more about myself beyond beauty lately as I've been getting more and more lovely followers. So let's get to it!

A is for Awesome: As in "Don't forget to be awesome". I've been part of the Nerdfighter community since 2008. It's really helped me to realize that it's ok to be different or weird, and that there are other people out there just like you.

B is for Beauty: Obviously since I run a beauty blog I'm passionate about beauty. I haven't always been though, and it really started almost two years ago. Back in high school I couldn't care less about makeup!

C is for Cheese: For someone as picky as I am when it comes to food, I love me some cheese. Macaroni and cheese, cheddar cheese, all the cheese.

D is for Doctor Who: Doctor Who holds a special place in my heart. It's one of the first shows my dad and I watched together. It also brought my boyfriend Alex and I together. We first started talking about the show, and then just kept on talking.

E is for Elephant Ears: By far my favorite food. If I see a carnival, I'm there hunting for the elephant ear booth.

F is for Family: Family is incredibly important to me. I'm up in arms if anyone tries to insult or hurt them. I have an older sister Kristy who is one of my best friends, and my parents are beyond words.

G is for Grades: Academics have always been incredibly important to me. I love learning and at graduation was awarded the highest award a student can get from my campus based on academics and campus involvement.

H is for Home: I'm a serious home body. Having a comfy, cozy home is incredibly important to me and I would much rather stay at home than go out.

I is for Introvert: Although I've become more extroverted thanks to my Youtube channel and this blog, I've always been an introvert. I'm quiet, observant, and recharge by myself rather than in a group.

J is for Journeys: This blog has taken me on quite the journey, but I also really love to travel. Travel is interesting as an introvert because it forces me to have to be more outgoing and adventurous. I can't get enough of Europe and I'm going to Italy this summer.

K is for Kayla: Interestingly enough, my parents named me after a soap opera star. I have phases where I really like my name and then really don't like it. I just can't imagine being a full-grown adult with the name Kayla. I've never met another adult Kayla before!

L is for Letters: I love to write letters. I've been writing to one of my friends for over five years. We started when we left to go to different colleges and haven't stopped since. I'll always write letters. It's such a beautiful way to get to know someone and is way more personal than a post on a wall.

M is for Marketing: My "actual" job is doing marketing and public relations for a school within a university. It gives me tons of opportunities to design things as well as explore the interwebs. I completely love it.

N is for Noise: There's nothing more that I enjoy than silence. I like music, but more often than not it starts to annoy me. I love peace and quiet, except when I'm trying to sleep. Then I have to sleep with a fan on.

O is for Organization: I'm an incredibly organized person and get relief out of organizing.

P is for Panera: My love. My obsession. Their macaroni in cheese is divine. I also go on a lot of "Panera Dates" with friends!

Q is for Quote: My favorite quote is, "Courage doesn't always roar". I'm not the loudest, outwardly brave person, but that doesn't mean you can't be quiet and still be brave.

R is for Relationships: My relationships are very important to me. Be them with Alex, my friends, or my family. I take a lot of time to keep in touch with people and be there for them!

S is for Sorority: I joined my sorority (Theta Phi Alpha) back in 2010. It's been such a learning and growing experience. I contribute who I am now and how much I've changed for the better to my experiences in my sorority.

T is for Tardis: Another Doctor Who reference, but also the name of my cat. Tardis is my buddy. He's one fantastically not annoying cat who acts a lot like a dog!

U is for University: I work at a university and it's such an interesting unique experience. A job at a university is a lot different than other places. It's also a bit strange because I work at the university I graduated from. No longer do I go to classes though!

V is for Vision: I think it's incredibly important to have a vision. I have a vision of where I see this blog going, where I see my career going, etc. You have to know where you want to go in order to start working on getting there.

W is for Water Polo: I played water polo for five years and I loved every second of it. I had been swimming competitively since I was eight and just wasn't in love with it anymore. Water polo combines everything I learned through my years on swim teams, but added a very challenging, strategic element to it. I miss playing so much.

X is for The Birds: I personally find the letter X to be silly and annoying when trying to do alphabet games or tags like this one.

Y is for Yes: Because of my introvertness, I oftentimes say no to invitations to go out. Something I've been trying to work on lately is saying yes more. Saying yes to people has allowed me to get to know people better and it's been a wonderful experience.

Z is for Zoo: I love zoos. Since I was a little kid I'd get really excited to go and see elephants (my favorite animals). I don't think any zoos in Michigan have elephants any more since it's too cold for them and they get moody, but I think zoos are an amazing learning experience and a lot of fun!

Phew! If you've lasted this long I appreciate it! I'd love to read your responses so if you do this tag leave a link in the comments! I tag these lovely people in particular:

Nichole - Upbeats Uplifts
Tori - Pretty Lovely Girls
Jaye- Bed in the Kitchen
Madeline - Cappuccino and Fashion
Meghan - The Novel Coffee

First Impressions: February Ipsy Glam Bag

I just knew February's Ipsy Glam Bag was going to be Valentine's Day themed. I wasn't too eager to receive a themed bag about a week after the actual date of the holiday, but as soon as I started seeing the products I changed my tune. I'm always a fan of a good Zoya nail polish (this is the third one from Ipsy I've received) and this color ("Odette") is just stunning. I've been wanting to get into false eyelashes and have heard nothing but good things about First Aid Beauty.

Review: January Ipsy Glam Bag

Whoever made beauty subscription services a thing was a freakin' genius. Getting beauty products in the mail every month is like Christmas again and again. January's Ipsy Glam Bag was overall a solid bag. Some not so great things, but Ipsy is great at being consistently good.

Benefit the POREfessional
This primer has been circulating the blogosphere for quite some time. I was happy to see it in my glam bag so I could finally give it a go without having to purchase it. It's as I expected: all right. It gave my skin that satin finish that I used to love and want from a primer, but have since changed my mind. I don't understand the change of heart either, but I like my primer to leave my skin like it is. I can't really comment on whether or not it minimized my pores because I don't have overly noticeable pores in the first place.

Balanced Guru Balm Me Up Organic Sweet Cocoa & Tangy Body Balm
Probably my least favorite product of the bag, this stuff was just too greasy for my liking. Plus the smell was too strong and the texture made me weary.

Absolute! Makeup Cleansing Tissues
I'm usually not a fan of any of the makeup remover tissues Ipsy includes in their glam bags, but this one wasn't all that bad. It wasn't amazing at removing makeup, but it didn't smell all that bad and only left a slight residue on my skin after use.

(MALIN+GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm
The shocker of the bag, I actually really enjoyed this lip balm. I'm very stubborn in my lip balm ways and really only use just regular vasaline to moisturize my lips. It didn't have a weird scent and wasn't too heavy on the lips. I was happily surprised.

yaby Liquid Foundation in "Buff"
This foundation was missing something. I still can't pin down exactly what, but there was just something about it that left me wanting and eager to clean it off and apply my preferred foundation. I think it just didn't sit right on my skin or something.

Orla Kiely Sweet Pea Double Train Case

After a month of scouring the shelves of every Target I passed and stalking the website, I'm finally the happy owner of the Orla Kiely Sweet Pea Double Train Case ($19.99). This was the only bag in the collection that wasn't being sold online, so as soon as it was, I ordered it immediately. I first heard about Orla Kiely's cosmetic bag line from an organizedlikejen video (this video) and took it as a sign to upgrade from my flimsy makeup bag to one with a little more oomph.

What really attracted me to this case above the other ones in the collection are the two compartments. I hated having to carry my brushes separately from my too small makeup bag, and this train case still keeps the separate, but I don't have to carry two different things. It also keeps the brushes safe. I use the zipper pocket in the top pocket to hold bobby pins and hair ties. The bottom little pocket by the seam is used to store enough foam wedges for the week.

This bag is spacious, adorable, and overall perfect. It was completely worth the hunt. I'm no longer trying to fit just one more lipstick into my tiny makeup bag. There's plenty of room for my favorites as well as new products I'm giving a go.

What do you look for in a makeup bag? Are you happy with your current one?

xoxo Kayla

Empties #1

I don't know how other beauty bloggers and YouTubers do it, but it takes me ages to accumulate enough empties to warrant a video!

What products have you used up recently? Does it take you a long time to use up/accumulate empties?

Influenster J'Adore VoxBox

Oh Influenster. One of the best discoveries of last year that still has me all giddy every time I receive an email from them. If you don't know about Influenster.com, it's a completely free site for people like us bloggers to review products and potentially be sent VoxBoxes. You get sample boxes through filling out themed surveys and engaging in the site. They ask for your time, not your money. Near the tale end of last year I was really engaged in the site and received my first VoxBox (I filmed an unboxing video about it). Since then I haven't been incredibly active on the site, but was thrilled to find out they were going to send me this J'Adore VoxBox.

Valentine's themed, the J'Adore VoxBox has quite the interesting mix of products. I'm most excited about the KISS Looks so Natural Lashes ($3.99)* because I've never tried false eyelashes before. I keep eyeing them in stores but couldn't bring myself to spend at least $4 on something that's probably going to end very badly the first few times. Of course getting a huge bag of Hershey's Kisses is always a plus. I'm not very adventurous in my tea drinking, so my boyfriend Alex will have to give the Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas a go and report back.

What a nice little post-Valentine's Day treat! If you aren't signed up to Influenster I strongly recommend it. It's super easy and definitely worth it!

Do you use Influenster? What products from the J'Adore VoxBox would you want to try?

xoxo Kayla

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Sunday Stuff #6

Sundays are my favorite and least favorite days at the same time. It’s a great day to catch up on things, but the work week looms the next day. Today Alex and I are going to take the hour and a half drive to Alex’s parents’ house to celebrate his dad’s birthday. I’m hoping to get some journaling done in my Barnes and Noble “Beach Hut” journal. I’ve been writing in a journal since elementary school and love having the ability to look back and read about my life from a personal view point. I couldn’t find the specific journal online, but Barnes and Noble has a really great selection of journals just in general.

If I get the time to paint my nails, I’m thinking China Glaze's "Lemon Fizz" ($4.70) or China Glaze's "Refresh Mint" ($5.32). I’m definitely on a spring nail kick lately because I refuse to believe that winter will be here for much longer. I also want to do some reorganization in my makeup drawers. I recently picked up this Like-It Bricks Drawer Organizer ($4.99) from Meijer and really like how it fits in the drawers. I’m strongly considering purchasing a lot more of these and completely revamping my organizational system.

What are you doing this Sunday?

This Week's Most Loved #14

Another week another "This Week's Most Loved" post. I honestly feel like these posts are happening more and more frequently. I'm sure that attributes to my similar week days of going to work and coming home. The end of the week just seems to be coming in a bored blink of an eye these days!

I'm still deeply embedded in my quest to use the entirety of my makeup stash much more often, so this week's choices reflect that. I've been enjoying REN's Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk ($28) for some time now, but I've really been loving it this past week with my skin being so sensitive from the blistery winter. It has almost a green tea scent which took me some time to get used to and the cream lathers nicely. To add more of a glow to my complexion I've been reaching for theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer ($24) to highlight my cheekbones with. It's quite shimmery so a little goes a long way.

I've been attempting to pay more attention to my brows lately and am more than content with my Chella Dazzling Dark Brown Eyebrow Color Pencil ($18). I got it in an ipsy glam bag at some point and have found no reason to explore other eyebrow products. It matches my brows perfectly, is super easy to use, and gives me no fuss. I've also been using my LiSi Cosmetics Flushed Pressed Powder Blush ($9.50) in "Antigua" a lot this week. It gives the perfect flushed glow with a lot of pigmentation. I still love FratBoy more, but I'm trying to be an equal opportunity blush wearer!

What products have you been loving this week?

The Blush Edit

I received such a good response from my Foundation Edit post that I thought I'd continue doing them with different product categories! I used to have a love/hate relationship with blush. I loved the concept of it, but it was the first to go from my routine if I was in a rush. Yet lately I've become more and more obsessed. I honestly attribute my new love with blush to gh0stparties. She made a video a few months back where she talked about how she applies blush (it was in a tutorial or something) and she said she started farther back on the cheek near the hairline. I've always had the hardest time with applying blush in the right spot and with the right amount, but this trick has completely changed how I apply and wear blush!

Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick ($8.99) in "Just Pinched Pink" is a lovely flushed pink shade that has been a breeze to apply in the mornings when I'm trying to be quick before returning to work. I apply the product directly to my cheek and blend it in lightly with my fingers. It's really easy to see exactly where the product is going before blending it out. I wish the other shades in this line weren't so extreme or I would definitely pick up a few more. I don't need to say much about theBalm's Frat Boy ($21). It's just my perfect blush. It's actually the first blush I used to try gh0stparties' blush application trick. Maybe that's why I'm so smitten with it?

I've had the NYX Powder Blush ($5) in "Amber" the longest out of this mix and it's a little too dark for me at the moment with my skin being so completely pale, but with a light touch it does wonders at warming up my complexion. The Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blush ($12.99) in "Pinched" is a recent addition to my collection and is a little too springy at the moment. I use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to apply this and it's fairly sheer at first but easily build able. I'm really starting to enjoy these cream blushes! The LiSi Cosmetics Flushed Pressed Powder Blush ($9.50) in "Antigua" reminds me a lot of the e.l.f. blushes but comes off more pigmented. When I was looking up the link on their website "Antigua" appeared to be much darker. I'm not sure if my blush is mislabeled or what as mine is a lot lighter and more wearable.

What are your favorite blushes? Any good recommendations?

xoxo Kayla

8tTracks Loves #1

I have a job that has a lot of independent work time involved with it so I spend most of my days listening to music. I used to listen to Pandora, but I was fed up with the annoying ads and wanted a more unique mix of music. Enter 8tracks.com. All the mixes are made by average people and you're able to search for mixes based on different key words. There are no commercials and you can "like" a mix and save it to your liked folder. Once a mix is over another one from your liked list starts right after. I thought I'd share a few of my favorite mixes that have been getting me through my work days.

This has been my favorite mix these days. It's mellow and contains songs I'm familiar with, but also a lot of songs I hadn't heard before. It has 85 songs so it goes for over 5 hours. The perfect mix for an 8 hour day at work! It keeps my spirits up and my creativity flowing.

Before I discovered the Endless Indie! mix I couldn't stop listening to Bubblegum and Heartbreak on repeat. It's a little under an hour long so I circled through this mix frequently. It's a bit more upbeat but still within the "indie" genre featuring The Neighborhood, Vampire Weekend, Foster the People, etc.

Another indie mix that slows things down and isn't a very long listen (just 8 tracks). It's good for those melancholy days where you're just feeling thoughtful about life and things. Maybe not the best work playlist though if you're trying to be productive and get a lot of work done!

This is the mix that really got me hooked on 8tracks. It takes a lot of popular songs and blends them together to create some amazingly addicting mash ups. It's more hip hop oriented than my usual mix choices and is just a really cool listen.

Do you use 8tracks? What music streaming sites do you use?

In Love: Paper Source Donut Gifts

Photos from Paper Source.
Can we just..like...what?! One thing you may not know about me is my complete love and obsession with donuts. It's a serious love affair. I was browsing around various stationary store websites when I clicked to Paper Source. I love Paper Source to begin with, but when I saw they have a whole line of donut themed gifts, I nearly squealed with happiness. There are tea towels, aprons, wrapping paper, and my favorite, a donut garland! Looking past the wonderful theme, the style of the designs is just beautiful. It's vintage and whimsical while being colorfully pastel. Don't even get me started about the other wonderful categories of gifts Paper Source has. From gifts for hostesses (this tradition better not be dying) to feather and arrow themed items, everything is well made and lovely. It's a good thing there isn't a store near me or I'd be in big trouble.

Would you consider buying donut themed items? What item is your favorite? What theme gets you every time?

The Unloved #1

To follow up my holy grails post yesterday I thought it would be interesting to see what products haven't been receiving as much love as they used to. Here's hoping that dedicating a post to them will help to give them a little more love in the future!

Back near the end of last year I was completely obsessed with getting my first Benefit boxed blush. I wanted one, no, needed one. I ultimately chose Benefit's Blush in "CORALista" ($28). I used it for quite a while and loved the somewhat sheer, shimmery glow it gave to my cheeks. But when theBalm's Frat Boy came into my life, no other blush was safe. I think when it (finally) starts warming up I'll return to this lighter blush option. I'm sure it'll return to my favorites once color returns to my skin and the sun starts to shine more!

Apparently theBalm is taking over in other categories besides blush because before my NUDE'tude palette, I was an avid LORAC PRO Palette ($42) user. I struggled with a lot of fall out issues with the palette though and as soon as another came along without the same issues, this quickly started to gather dust in my makeup drawer. The shades are beautiful, but I need eye shadows that stay on my lids and not on my cheeks.

Finally I thought I had found a strong contender for my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer when I purchased the Covergirl Fresh Complexion Concealer ($4.94). It did replace my NARS concealer for a time, but it just didn't provide as much coverage as I wanted and I soon returned to NARS. It's not a bad concealer at the least, just not what I tend to grab for.

Do you have any products that are going unloved? How do you make sure all your products get attention?

xoxo Kayla

From the Comments #1

By far my favorite thing about blogging is the interaction with my readers. This post popped up into my head one day and I immediately wanted to make it a reality. I'm basically winging it, so we'll see if the format of these "From the Comments" posts remain like this or I switch it up as I figure out the best way to go about it. Basically every few weeks or so I'm going to go through the comments on all my posts and selecting some lovely commenters to showcase in this post. My reasoning behind choosing which comments may change from week to week, but I think this will be a great way to engage with my readers more!

Jasmine left this comment on my "Sunday Stuff #5" post and on a whim I clicked through her link to her blog. It's absolutely lovely! She has a fairly small following like myself and I just love finding smaller blogs. Definitely worth checking her site out! Jasmine, I'm curious what you thought of the face mask! Check out her blog.

Tori posted this comment on my "The Makeup Starter Kit" post. Can anyone help Tori out with e.l.f. product recommendations? Check out Tori's blog.

Kara left this comment on my "This Week's Most Loved #12" post and I feel her pain with having thin hair. Thin hair peeps have to stick together in the never-ending quest for volumizing products! Check out Kara's blog.

Let me know what you think of this post! Do you like it in this format or should I try something different?

xoxo Kayla

Holy Grails

I don't like to throw around the phrase "holy grail" lightly on this blog. It's a serious label given to only the products I'd run out and repurchase immediately if mine happened to go missing. However I feel safe in saying that these six products are my go-to's on a daily basis, my loves, my holy grails. The thing about these holy grails is that I've talked about them time and time again. So I'm not going to go in tons of detail about why I love them, I have post after post about that (which you can find in the product directory). Honestly I just wanted to put them all in one place where they can be a big ol' happy family.

theBlam's FratBoy ($21) still surprises me every time I sweep its incredibly pigmented peachy pink blush on my cheek. Plus I just love the name as it reminds me of my own "frat" boyfriend Alex. This will be the sixth post the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in “Vanilla” ($28) has been featured in on this blog. It could very well be the most talked about product on microscopebeauty.com. I can't get enough of it. One of the easiest products to use and one that I use almost daily, the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze ($6.99) was a great, inexpensive investment. I've loved my Benefit "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer (full size $29) since before I started this blog. It was actually one of the first reviews I ever wrote. I haven't found a primer to beat it yet.

I've never used a lipstick as feverishly as I've used MAC's "Syrup" ($15). It's practically gone and it will be the first lipstick that I've ever used up completely. It's also the first product I've ever purchased from MAC. It's the perfect "my lips but better" shade. L'Oréal's Voluminous Mascara ($4.19) has been with me since the dawn of my love for makeup. It's a mascara I keep coming back to, it's just so good!

What are your holy grail products?

My Favorite Beauty Blogs #5

It's that time of the month again where I share with you my new favorite beauty blogs. One of my favorite pastimes is to hunt for new blogs, which does wonders in changing out my favorite blogs of the moment. Lately I find myself eagerly clicking on new posts from these lovely blogs!

Bed in the Kitchen

Probably my new favorite blog to date, Jaye just seems so gosh darn relate-able. First off, her blog name is fantastic. I can't get enough. Her photography is bright (my favorite) and her posts are engaging. She's really managed to find a voice for herself which I've really started to notice is a struggle for a lot of bloggers. She also talks about a wide range of products from drugstore to high end, something that's becoming more and more important to me. I want a blog that shares products I can dream about, but also products that are budget friendly. I'm excited to see where this lovely blog goes!

sleep and water

I found this blog around the time I first started reading Bed in the Kitchen and I'm equally obsessed with the name. Where do these ladies come up with these things?!? I'm weirdly happy that sleep and water is an Australian blog because although I love a good UK blog, it's nice to see bloggers from other countries. This blog ticks all the boxes for me and I'm so happy I stumbled upon it.

I found this blog just a few days ago but it's so freakin' amazing I had to include it in this post. I'm not one for fashion blogs, but this one combines fashion and lifestyle so well that I found myself in posts months old and not sure how I ended up there. Marianne's photos are to die for, her photographic eye is impeccable and I just want to live her whimsical looking life for a day.

Heather's blog is one of those solid blogs you go to for good content, great photography, and no bull. She's down to earth and I've had a few chats with her the past few weeks and she's been so sweet. I expect some seriously great things from her and that beautiful blog of hers!

What blogs have you been loving lately? I'm always looking for a good new read!

Sunday Stuff #5

Ah Sundays. In our apartment we call them Sleeping Panda Days. Not entirely sure why we started calling them that, but my boyfriend Alex and I use them to catch up on errands, hang out with one another, and basically just loaf around the house. Today I plan on eating the rest of my Valentine's Day chocolate while watching the new season of House of Cards on Netflix (it's so good). In an effort to think spring I'm leaning towards Rimmel's Lasting Finish Pro in "Hot Cocoa". Although the name screams staying in doors on a cold winter day, I love this dusty rose shade to help me stay positive that spring is coming, eventually. For skincare I'm using Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores ($24). I got this a few months back and haven't used it all that much as I tend to go for other face masks. There may also be some brownie making squeezed in today for Alex's fraternity!

What are you up to today?

xoxo Kayla

Gifts from the Boy

I've never really "celebrated" Valentine's Day before. Last year Alex and I didn't do anything for the day so when this year rolled around I wasn't expecting much if anything. Alex shows his affection randomly rather than needing a holiday for it. Yet when I got home from work he was there with this lovely beauty book "Making Faces" and this adorable little dinosaur figurine. He thought it would be cute if the dinosaur made some guest appearances in the background of some of my photos. I absolutely love my surprise gifts and appreciate his effort in thinking outside the box for Valentine's Day!

What did you do for Valentine's Day? Do you love the holiday or could do without it?

This Week's Most Loved #13

I've really been hard at work lately putting down my beloved products and picking up new ones. There have been some very awful misses lately, but this week's most loved has a few products I've become a little obsessed with. I picked up this Almay Intense I-Color Shimmer Eyeshadow ($6.99) (for green eyes even though mine aren't green) after hearing EssieButton rave about it a month or so back. It's surprisingly good and really easy to wear on a daily basis. The shades blend well together and there is little to no fall out (something that happens with me a LOT).

I finally got my hands on an Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick ($22) with a recent 20% off coupon for Ulta. I decided to get the shade "Rapture" which ended up being a bit too far on the purple side of the mauve family for my liking when I first applied it. Since then I've really started to own this unique shade and if applied lightly, it looks incredibly flattering. It lasts a long time and is incredibly pigmented. I've already started itching to get another that's a bit lighter in color.

I got the Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick ($8.99) in "Just Pinched Pink" in a recent drugstore haul  and have really been enjoying using it. I've been doing my makeup at work lately to save time in the morning, so having a blush product that I can apply without a brush has really been nice. It's a flattering color that blends really nicely into the cheeks to produce a flushed, natural warmth.

What products have you been loving this week?

xoxo Kayla

Current Beauty Wishlist #5

Another month, another wishlist. More often than not I don't end up buying any or all the products on my wishlists, but it's just nice to dream sometimes.

1. Orla Kiely Sweet Pea Double Train Case $19.99
I have to be at work at 8 a.m. every morning, and I definitely want as much sleep as possible. So I've started bringing my makeup to work and applying it in one of the campus bathrooms. I'm in desperate need for a new makeup bag as I've never been one to carry my makeup around with me before. This makeup bag is only being sold at Target and I actually went to Target a few days ago to buy it and it wasn't in stock. Plus it's currently not being sold online. So I just have to lust after it some more until I manage to get my hands on it. I love the double compartments as it allows a place for my brushes to go so they're not getting jumbled and ruined with my other makeup. It's large, but not too large so I'll have plenty of room for anything I want to bring with me.

2. Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque $39
This is one of those products that will remain firmly on my wishlist and might never get off (it's so expensive!). I can lust after it regardless though as I've heard some amazing things about this masque. My skin remains fairly behaved most days, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't keep an eye on it and give it good skincare!

3. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in "Blissful" $26
Damn you EssieButton for making me want a Tarte blush more than ever. It took me a while to decide which shade I wanted to pine over, but "Blissful" is just the perfect peachy/pink shade I can't seem to avoid.

4. Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Treatment Mask $39
Another mask that's just too darn expensive to be running out and picking up on a whim. It's up there with the Aesop mask for the number of raves I've seen in the blogosphere for literally months. I'm curious to experience it's wonderfulness for myself, but not $39 worth of curious.

A cult favorite that has been on my radar for a while now. I'm content with my current cleansers so maybe once I've used a few of those up I'll give this one a go as it's much more affordable than the ones I'm currently using.

6. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer $42
I want this. Badly. The next Sephora sale I'm going to try and snag this little guy. I've really been getting into foundations lately and I think this could be a really nice alternative to a foundation.

What products are on your wishlist right now?

The Beauty Blogger Tag

Lindsay over at Belle Amour tagged me to do this post and I thought what the heck!
Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I originally had a personal blog that I started in 2009 where I'd post mostly photos of my daily life or just general ramblings. Once I really started getting into beauty I decided to start my beauty blog last year near the end of May. I've always loved blogging and photography so it's just always been something I've done it feels like
Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
Before I knew what Bloglovin' was I kept a bookmarks folder of beauty blogs I liked to read. EssieButton and Gh0stparties were the two blogs that I really loved and made me feel like I could give blogging a shot.

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product that you bought? Was it worth the hype?
I honestly can't remember the very first product, but I've definitely bought my fair share of hyped up products I didn't necessarily need. I'm looking at you Urban Decay Naked Palette.

What are your five favorite things about blogging and being a Beauty Blogger?
1. Photography: I love the photography aspect of blogging and how much I've improved since I've started. I've learned so much about product photography and I also really love looking at how other bloggers set up and take their photos.
2. Meeting other bloggers: I've gotten to know a lot of really amazing people from blogging that I would never have otherwise. (Lindsay and Madeline specifically!)
3. Exploring new products: Before I started blogging I knew the basics about beauty, but now I've learned way more. I love checking out new products or venturing into a makeup product I used to avoid (*cough* foundation *cough*)
4. Reading other blogs: Reading beauty blogs is how I relax and spend my free time. Blogs and YouTube are my source of entertainment and besides the occasional bender on Netflix, I don't watch much else.
5. Feeling accomplished: Every time I put up a blog post, guest post on someone else's blog, make a new blogging friend, etc. I feel so accomplished and just all around wonderful. I had no idea what I was doing when I first started my blog, and now I can't imagine doing anything else.

What have you learnt from being a Beauty Blogger?
I've learned some serious photography skills as well as how to better market myself. If you just post occasionally and don't do anything else to promote yourself and your blog, nothing's going to happen. I've learned that I have to get out there, not be afraid to talk about my blog to people I know, and be proud of what I'm doing.

Have you changed anything since becoming a Beauty Blogger?
Besides the quality of photography, I think my overall obsession for beauty has definitely increased. Before it was just something I liked, now it's an addiction.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
You definitely have to find your own voice and style. Plus you have to really decide why you're starting your blog. If you're doing it in the attempt to become rich and famous you're going to get discouraged when the followers don't come flooding in after your first few posts. There should never be an end game to blogging. You should just enjoy doing it!

What are your top 5 makeup brands?
1. MAC: I'm downright obsessed with their lipsticks. I haven't really ventured into anything else within the brand but I have my eye on their brushes.
2. Revlon: Revlon is just a solid drugstore brand that has some really great eye liners.
3. Rimmel: Rimmel is a brand I oftentimes overlook for others but is downright awesome. They produce some really great products at really affordable prices.
4. theBalm: Their NUDE'tude palette needs to be in your life. It's out of this world. Also their Frat Boy blush is fantastic.
5. Benefit: If they would stop being so expensive I'd like this brand even more but their That Gal face primer is the only one I'll use.

Recommend your top 5 beauty products..
1. L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara: An underrated mascara that deserves all the awards.
2. theBalm NUDE'tude Palette: You know why.
3. e.l.f. Liquid Eyeliner: It's really easy to use, dries quickly, and has a nice brush.
4. theBalm Frat Boy Blush: The best natural/peachy glow you can get
5. MAC "Syrup" Lipstick: My lips but way way better.
