Overview: Hard Candy

I'm back with another "Overview" post! I've gotten a lot of good feedback from my first overview post featuring Wet N Wild Beauty and received requests to do one for the brand Hard Candy. I've only ever seen Hard Candy sold at Walmart, so that's where I picked up four different products to try out and give you my opinions on each product and my overall thoughts on the brand.

This blush is much too sheer and shimmery to ever be used as a blush, but it makes a pretty good highlighter. It's a bit powdery and you have to be careful with your brush or this stuff will be everywhere. It's definitely not as good of a highlighter as Benefit's Watt's Up, but it isn't terrible either.

This product seemed super promising, but is by far my least favorite one. It smudges, bad. The applicator is really good and precise but the formula never dries. When it does smudge (and oh does it smudge), it's nearly impossible to get off. I did a swatch on my hand the first day I purchased it and even using makeup wipes I couldn't get the grey tinge off my hand.

All Lid Up Cream Eye Shadow in "Pinning 4 U" $5
This cream eye shadow is like Maybelline's Color Tattoos, but way less creamy and much more difficult to work with. It's not a very blend-able product even though it's a really beautiful color. I'll still use it, I just wish it wasn't such a pain.

This mascara applied well enough, but didn't seem to do much of anything. My lashes were darker wearing it, but they weren't any longer or had any more volume than usual. They also didn't keep a curl. My lashes looked completely normal after an hour or so, just slightly darker. It's a decent mascara that is good for days when you don't want to wear too much makeup. The product is light on the lashes and doesn't clump, but overall it isn't anything too special. Spend the extra dollar or so and buy a Maybelline one (my favorite is the One by One mascara).

Overall the Hard Candy brand is as I expected it to be: really cool, funky packaging containing products that aren't anything extraordinary. They're also overpriced for what you get in my opinion. If you're curious about the brand I say still give it a try, but don't expect to be replacing any of your holy grail products any time soon.

What brand would you like to see an overview post for next?

xoxo Kayla
